Blogmas 16 | Make the Bible Come Alive: Mystery Revealed

When you think of the bible what do you think of? Do you believe the Bible is some ancient book that does not apply to today? Or do you believe that the word of God is needed more today than ever before? Do you believe there is an answer in the word of God for every situation we face? I truly believe that the bible is the word of God. God’s words on the binding pages of a book. I believe the bible was supernaturally inspired by the Spirit of God. The very breath of God whispered to ordinary men to give us the foundation of life. Some people read the bible daily because they know it is vital to life and existence and some only read it when they want a quick word of encouragement; yet many people do not live by it. The word of God is the policies and procedures of living the Kingdom life. I saw this meme the other day.…

Unless you read the word of God with the Holy Spirit, there will always be a disconnection between your heart and what you are reading. How can we understand the word of God without consulting with the one who wrote it. Many other religions study the bible but not to rightly divide the word of truth but to debate it (2 Timothy 2:15). With the motive of their heart and lack of faith, they aren’t able to experience the love of God and the message of his heart to his people. However, when you a have on the right lenses you will begin to read and the word will open up to you. The word of God is active, it is alive (Hebrews 4:12). The word of God speaks, it has emotions, it has insight and so much more.

Do you desire to read the word of God and hear the small still voice of God speaking to you? Do you desire to have the answer to all life’s challenges and trials? Do you desire to have a passion to read the word of God without getting tired or being bored? If you answered yes to these questions, here is what you do:

  1. Look for Jesus in every book

  2. He is in every book of the bible and he can be found if you look for him with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13)

  3. “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!” (John 5:39)

  4. Partner with the Holy Spirit

  5. As you read, invite the Holy Spirit in to fellowship with you. Ask him to open the scrolls and unlock the mysteries held in the word of God

  6. The bible is a book of mysteries and unless you have the key, you will not have access

  7. Read what is relevant to where you are

  8. If you have asked the question, where do I start in the bible?

  9. You do not have to begin at any particular book, find a story that is synonymous to where you are in life and allow it to minister to you and give you direction

  10. Why? Because the word of God is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our pathway (Psalm 119:105)

  11. If you aren’t able to relate to what you are reading, of course it will be boring

  12. Put your name in the scriptures

  13. Begin to see yourself in the word of God.

  14. If the bible is a 66 book love letter to you, make it personal. All love letters have a name that the letters are addressed to, put your name there

  15. Then as you read, you will begin to see what God meant for you, then your confession changes

I believe if you start here you will be able to see the word of God in a completely different light. I believe what you overlooked or missed before, God will begin to illuminate words, phrases and chapters to you. It will happen in such a way that there will be no striving or effort but a genuine desire to know God through reading the word. One reason the word of God was given to us was so that we could know God; so that we would grow in the knowledge of him. God has told us everything we need to know about himself and it is all revealed to us in his word.

If you are anything like me, I love to get to know new people. We get to know new people through conversing with them, reading about them and most of all spending time with them. We learn them through the verbal and nonverbal gestures, actions and personality. The same way there is natural there is also spiritual. We get to know God by his word. We determine how close we are to a person by how much we know them and how much time we spend with them. We also become closer to a person through intimacy. Intimacy is being completely open before a person regardless of what we think they will say or feel. As we read the word of God, we are getting naked before God. The word of God searches us. The word of God reveals our hearts. When our hearts are revealed and open before God, we are drawing closer to him; and as we draw nigh to him, he draws nigh to us (James 4:8). The word is so vital to our relationship with God; without the word of God, there is no relationship. The bible is like reading the biography of the one who created us and the one we love. And as we read about God, we discover ourselves too. The bible is the only book we can read that reads us back. I personally love the word of God.

The bible can be used for every area of life: business, marriage, dating, purity, friendship, prayer, family, promotion, money, divorce, church culture, warfare, callings, purpose, gifts, personal development, decisions, recompense, repentance, forgiveness, how to get your prayers answered, faith, hope, enemies, lost of loved ones....Whatever you need is within the pages

It's one thing to about God. It's quite another to know him for yourself.
